Attic Flat Construction

The designer’s goal was to turn an attic of an old (the end of 19th century), five story building downtown Prague, into a bright and modern condominium.

The concept of dividing the attic space followed the layout of multiple chimneys scattered throughout the room. The area of 85m2 allowed for a two bedroom flat. Both, daylight and night areas, were separated by a sliding door. The owner’s main request for ample storage space was answered by putting in a large closet and an overhead cabinet above the main entrance door.
The roof of the attic had to be raised up to create a more spacious livable area. Raising the roof also allowed for implementing an outside terrace which is now accessible from the living room. The custom designed kitchen accounted for a retractable counter top. Added fireplace became the centerpiece of the entire space.

Staircase to the terrace was built during the second phase of the project.
